To select your side, check out the module availability from the slot list or server browser and open up the chat window and type -red
or -blue
to select your coalition.
Having it done you will receive in the chat 4-digit password for the side you've chosen. You need to put it into side join window. You can swap sides if needed.
The map symbology is as follows:
The main objectives are the coloured circles on the F10 map. The goal is to capture all of them. An objective the colour of your coalition is owned by your side. The opposite
colour means it's controlled by the opposition. If the circle is black, the area is contested with units of both sides present.
For Air to Ground tasking, we would highly recommend focusing on Contested objectives as these are the most urgent battles being fought.
Reconnaissance and intelligence are a crucial part of SDCS. You will need to find and mark hostile units, either by hand or using JTACS
If you're interested in Air to Air tasking, the knowledge of which airbases the Enemy currently control should influence where you focus.
For Air to Air players in particular, please take a look at utilizing our Tankers and player seasonable / relocatable AWACS
We have an Auto-GCI feed that relies on your AWACS and EWRs network. It will always give you callouts unless the bandit is in a blind spot.
Logistics are one of the most important part of an SDCS campaign. The logistics tasks are:
We love Combined Arms and the dynamic environment it brings to players.
All units on the map except the static base units are player built and placed. It is the players responsibility to move the frontline.
Note that you can waypoint units from an aircraft, you don't need to slot in taccom to deploy or move a convoy!
Please checkout Logistics and Cargo Flights
You can slot in taccom and check the F10 map to see what airfields your coalition owns. You will also see where your FARPs are. If you click on their marker you will get their name
and to which slots they correspond. For instance “FARP RA1”.
You can use the website at https://map.strategic-dcs.com to get an overview even before starting DCS.
You may also use the F10 menu in game: F10 (Other) → F2 (Summary) → F2 (Base Summary)
to obtain your coalitions base summary
You will always be able to slot at air frames from your Coalitions Unrestricted
location
This makes a good choice to login and view the current map and what airfields your team has captured and what FARPs are available.
If you try and slot at an non-established location you will receive a list of valid options.
To see if weapons are available check on the airfield or the FARP if a shelter is present.
