Enemy SAM systems, or EWRs will not show up on your HSD or SA pages, you will have to employ your sensors to locate them.
In the F-16 Consider transmitting HTS targets to your coalition to provide threat rings to other F-16s operating on your coalition
Our external engine manages Air defense systems based on available data sources including E2s, EWRs, and ground units to build a picture (All Line of sight limited)
This is used both for our AutoGCI mechanic, but also for controlling the state of SAMs creating an Integrated Air defense system that manages teh activation state of SAMs depending on players, or weapons that are inbound (such as silencing the main site in the presence of harms etc. whilst keeping the point defenses active)
When placing SAM compositions, please be mindful of your placement, they are large sites and should not be placed in cities.
Most sites come with the core platform, along with point defenses for HARM interception.
Example:
Each coalition has a primary EWR, the FPS-117
for blue and 55G6 EWR
for red, both of which offer a maximum detection range of 250
and 215
miles respectively.
Any EWR placed has an impact on the functioning of your IADS as a whole, a destruction of all EWRs will put all SAMs into standard DCS autonomous state.
We are limited to 8 static EWRs placed per coalition as these are added to the F10 AWACS menu which is ordered based on spawn time. As we permit 2 E2 AWACS to be airborne, we always want them to be contactable and this would not be the case if there were more than 8 EWRs placed.
Both coalitions have the option to use Dog Ear Mobile EWRs.
These do influence and control SAM sites within their range, and contribute to the picture for LotATC, but do not show up in the AWACS F10 menu.
