To avoid issues where we have 1 player that keeps on respawning at the same airfield/FARP and dying in quick succession resulting in 0 location lives available for other players, we have implemented a personal life.
This life only impacts the location where you took the life, you will be free to respawn at any other suitable location.
Due to the time differences between rotary and fixed wing modules, this starting point of the life varies.
The duration however, is always the lesser of 20 minutes, or the airbase life timer.
For rotary wing airframes, this time starts from first departure.
Min Vody has 40 minute location life regen period
For fixed wing air frames, this time starts from your death
Min Vody has 40 minute location life regen period
Each location (FARP, or Airbase) has a limited set of class-based lives
Base Type | Rotary | Fixed |
Airbase | 4 | 6 |
FARP | 4 | 2 |
Immediately on slot, you “take” a life and possibly prevent others from spawning at that location.
If you try and join a slot at a location that does not have lives available, you will be notified via the chat window along with when the next life will be available based on the current regeneration period for that location
On takeoff the life is committed, and will commence regeneration.
The regeneration period is constantly re-evaluated based on the distance from the unrestricted airfield, and the current number of players, along with their coalition distribution.
In short: The further away from the unrestricted base the longer it takes, If you’re outnumbered, your timer is reduced, if you are outnumbering your timer is increased.
You can find the current regen period by checking the F10’s zone info, this should only be used as an estimate as players joining / leaving will affect lives “in the air”.
For more information, see: Regen Details below
When you land your life will done one of 3 things:
Any life taken at slot is made available to other players when you leave the slot.
With the transfer mechanics, it is possible to have more than the max number of lives at a location, as shown here by the Fixed Wing Lives
There are no life restrictions at the unrestricted airfields, and you will always be able to slot at this location and are able to transfer lives from here to other airfields within the theater.
The anchor distance: the distance from the unrestricted airbase, less the distance between to the next closest airbase.
This is to help ensure reasonable parity between red and blue over their last non-unrestricted airfields:
The number of slotted players, and their distribution, essentially: If you’re outnumbered, your timer is reduced, if you are outnumbering your timer is increased.
A 4 player difference has more effect if only 6 players on the server, compared to 20
This provides the following table for Mineralnye Vody, ~180nm from Blue’s Unrestricted, with ~82nm anchor_distance, for a base re-spawn time of 26 minutes
Blue Players | Red Players | Multiplier (mult/divisor) | Blue Respawn Time (minutes) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 1 | 1 | 26 |
1 | 2 | 1.56 | 17 |
1 | 4 | 2.59 | 10 |
10 | 11 | 1.1 | 24 |
10 | 20 | 2.87 | 9 |
16 | 20 | 1.39 | 19 |
1 | 0 | 2.12 | 56 |
These values are only initial values, and subject to change based on player response and actual game-play impact once we have more data.
